Last week, I decided to take a leap of faith and ask my local bookstore if they’d be interested in stocking my novel, The Beaumont Egalitarian Society. This may have been the best decision of my life.

Not only did they agree to stock it, but the entire process was extremely easy. The staff truly know the business, made me feel comfortable, and above all else, feel like a rockstar. It was clear they love their books and authors, and want nothing but to ensure indie authors have the same opportunities as traditionally published authors.

My dream has always been to hold my novel in my hands—even better, to walk into a bookstore and see it on the shelf. On Monday, that dream was finally achieved.

I’d like to thank the amazing staff, including Tim, at The Hobart Bookshop for their incredible support and faith. There are not enough words in this world to describe just how grateful I am for their life-changing actions. If you’re in Tasmania, I highly recommend checking out the shop, located in the very convenient Salamanca area of Hobart (with the famous Salamanca Markets open very Saturday and just a thirty-second walk from the store!) They stock a wide range of genres, including several uniquely Tasmanian books (and author-signed copies!), at competitive prices. With Christmas coming up, you’ll find the perfect gift for everyone.

If you are an independent author, I highly recommend looking into your local store to see if they will support you. Whilst many have preferred distributors, there are other options available, such as stocking via consignment (an article about this will be published soon). If you have enough belief in your work, the chances are very high that so will your local store.

Signed copies of The Beaumont Egalitarian Society are now available in store. Grab your copy whilst stocks last!
